Greenough River Solar Farm
Work has started on a 10MW solar farm near Ellendale in the Mid West region of Western Australia.
Greenough River Solar Farm is being built by Verve Energy and joint venture partners GE Financial Services.
The solar photovoltaic (PV) farm will produce energy when it is needed most - during the day. It will be Australia's first utility scale solar farm and the largest in Australia.
US company First Solar is providing the PV technology, using more than 150,000 thin film PV modules to construct the solar farm.
The project site is approximately 80 hectares of private, cleared land 30 kilometres east of Walkaway and 50 kilometres southeast of Geraldton, on the Nangetty Walkaway Road.
