Pinjar
It takes just 15 minutes to start up Pinjar Gas Turbine Power Station.
We use this power station when there is peak electricity demand such as on hot summer days when everyone turns on their air-conditioners.
The nine gas turbines have a total generating capacity of 584MW. Primarily we use gas, but Pinjar can also burn liquid fuel (distillate) at times of gas shortages.
Pinjar Gas Turbine Power Station is located 15km north of Wanneroo, on the northern outskirts of the Perth metropolitan area. The first units were installed in 1989 and others added in later years.
The power station is connected to the Dampier-Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline.
Verve Energy’s gas turbine maintenance group, which looks after Pinjar and our other gas turbines, has an enviable reputation and other generating companies in Australia keenly seek its expertise.
