Verve Energy Completes an Organisation Restructure

Release Date: 25 September 2007

WA’s leading energy provider Verve Energy has adopted a new organisation structure to better position the business to succeed in the new competitive electricity market.

Managing Director Shirley In’t Veld said the new structure was appropriate for a business of Verve Energy’s size competing in the developing WA market.

“We inherited our original structure at disaggregation in April 2006.  It is no longer suitable.  We must be lean, focussed and conscious of our financial position if we are to succeed.  We now have a structure that will form the foundation of our future success.

Regrettably this restructure has resulted in 14 permanent positions being made redundant, plus the termination of a number of contractors.  All except one of the redundant employees are based in Perth office, which provides support services for the power stations.

Counselling and career transition services are being provided for those affected employees to smooth the move from Verve Energy.

“While the redundancies are unfortunate, the WA job market is currently very strong for those employees who want to re-establish themselves.”

Ms In’t Veld said that as well as producing improved efficiencies and effectiveness, Verve Energy will gain significant cost savings as a result of the new structure.
