Verve Energy’s innovative Integrated Wood Processing technology has been accepted for the prestigious World Clean Energy Awards.
Verve Energy built a demonstration IWP plant at Narrogin in the WA Wheatbelt which validated the integration process – producing renewable electricity, activated carbon and eucalyptus oil from plantation mallee tree fuel stock.
“The IWP is one of only 70 entries from 20 countries and one of only two from Australia, accepted to the World Clean Energy Awards,” says Verve Energy General Manager Trading and Sustainable Energy Greg Denton.
“We are on the international stage in eminent company.
“This type of exposure will be invaluable to the future applications of the technology.”
Now that the trial plant at Narrogin has proven the technology, Verve Energy is taking steps that could lead to the first commercial sized plant being built.
Energy Minister Fran Logan has approved the next step, which involves circulating an Information Memorandum in the investment community to test the level of interest in building a commercial plant.
