Mumbida Wind Farm
Mumbida Wind Farm is under construction near Geraldton in the Mid West of Western Australia.
Verve Energy and Macquarie Capital are jointly developing the project which is situated on a private farm called Mumbida.
Mumbida Wind Farm will have a capacity of 55MW, enough to power about 35,000 average homes and displace 165,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
It will be Verve Energy biggest wind farm, surpassing Albany, Esperance and Kalbarri wind farms in capacity.
This project has been in the pipeline for a number of years. Verve Energy has carried out a feasibility study, monitored winds in the area and consulted with the local community.
Mumbida Wind Farm is scheduled to be operating by the end of 2012.
