Pinjar

Pinjar Power StationPinjar Gas Turbine Power Station is located 15km north of Wanneroo, on the northern outskirts of the Perth metropolitan area.

Pinjar was the first major gas turbine station in our portfolio.

It has a total generating capacity of 576MW from nine gas turbines which are primarily gas fired, but can also burn liquid fuels (distillate).

The first units were installed in 1989 and others added in later years.

The power station is connected to the Dampier-Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline.

As the site is on the Gnangara water mound, environmental management systems are strict and include features such as thick rubber/plastic membranes under the fuel storage and oil separator areas and a comprehensive and extensive containment drainage and storage system.

Verve Energy’s turbine maintenance group has an enviable reputation and other generating companies in Australia keenly seek its expertise.

There is no full-time on-site staff – the power station is operated remotely from the East Perth Control Centre and has a start up time of 15 minutes.
