Collie

Collie Power StationCollie Power Station is a coal-fired power station situated 10km north of Collie. It is the most modern of Verve Energy’s coal-fired power stations.

It is a base load power station which is capable of producing more than 300MW of electricity for the South West Interconnected System (SWIS). It has the biggest single generation unit of all our power stations.

The power station, which opened in 1999, is owned by Verve Energy, and operated and maintained by Transfield Worley Power Services, a joint venture company between Transfield Services and WorleyParsons, with a staff of about 40.

Coal for the power station is transported on conveyor from the nearby Collie coal mines. Collie Power Station uses about 1 million tonnes of coal a year.
